Best buddies from girl groups-Sulli, Suzy, and Krystal- meet up at Hong Kong!

Beginning with f(x)’s Krystal’s posting pictures of herself with her “idol” friends who were all born in 1994 on her twitter, Miss A’s Suzy, Kara’s Jiyoung, and f(x)’s Sulli consecutively tweeted their pictures and videos together.

In the videos and pictures, four girls show their cute and friendly images. In some of them, they jump and make funny faces.

Suzy and Jiyoung tweeted, “We wish 4Minute’s So Hyun, who was also born in 1994, were here with us. We hope she makes it next time!”

In the episode of Animal Farm which aired on the 31st, Han Seung Yeon first appeared on the show.
She opened up the show by saying, “Hello everyone. This is Han Seong Yeon, the new MC of Animal Farm.” and proceeded the whole show in a friendly atmosphere.
Shin Dong Yeop said, “You are so charming. I think you have the most charms among all the girl group members.”
Han Seung Yeon responded shyly, “Don’t say that~”
This is the first time Han Seong Yeon became the MC of an entertainment show, and she is known to have special affection for animals. In this episode, she attracted attention by participating in the cat rescue operation.

SNSD, Wonder Girls, Kara, and Brown Eyed Girls to make their explosive comebacks in fall

Will this fall see an epic competition between girl groups unfold?

This fall will reveal new comebacks and new albums from girl groups that are representative of K-pop. Since these girl groups' comeback periods will overlap, there will be a fierce competition occurring whether they want it or not. These groups include SNSD, Wonder Girls, and Kara, who debuted around the same time in 2007 and are now considered "The Big 3". Brown Eyed Girls, famous for their Abracadabra syndrome, will also be making a comeback.

According to reports, SNSD is planning on releasing an album this fall. Because of the long period of time and energy spent promoting in Japan, this will be their next big thing since their "Hoot" comeback. It is likely that SNSD, known as the nation's girl group with a huge fanbase, will again become the next hot issue.

Wonder Girls will also be releasing a new album this fall. The group, having been promoting abroad for the longest time, will be releasing this album after a year and a half. Known as "one of the original girl groups", their hit songs "Tell Me" and "Nobody" have shaken Korea's music industry down to its core. Therefore, their comeback will be something we can all anticipate.

Along with SNSD and Wonder Girls, Kara will release an album in September. Although they had a rough beginning, they clenched their teeth and were able to make it to the top of the K-pop industry. Therefore, expectations will be great for their comeback. Kara is currently working on their new album.

Brown Eyed Girls, who achieved notable success with "Abracadabra" and "Sign", are also breaking their long hiatus to make a comeback after 2 years. Although there were many rumors surrounding their constantly delayed comeback, they are currently working hard at recording their next album. Although they originally intended to make their return in mid-July, it is most probable that they will be able to finish the album and release their concept by September. The amount of popularity that they brought to their last hit song will most likely be repeated this time.

KARA, f(x), miss A, and more scheduled to perform in Hong Kong

Recently, an increased number of kpop groups have been travelling to Hong Kong to interact with their fans through fan meetings, and the events have all been well-received. Next month, eight of the most popular kpop groups are scheduled to perform for two nights in Hong Kong! This will be the event with the most K-pop performers thus far in Hong Kong.

At the end of August, groups including KARA, f(x), miss A, Sistar, 2AM, CN Blue, FT Island, and ZE:A will hold concerts two nights in a row. This will be the first time the four female groups will perform in Hong Kong. In particular, this will be KARA’s first overseas performance after the group’s promotions in Japan. Other girl groups have also gained popularity in the city due to their success in Korea.

On the other hand, all of the male groups have previously promoted in Hong Kong. ZE:A held a fan meeting back in June; 2AM carried out a 3-day promotion in May; CN Blue visited the city as part of their 1st Asia World Tour in 2010; and FT Island held a showcase in February of 2010.

KARA celebrates Seungyeon’s birthday + Hara & Jiyoung’s third anniversary

July 24th is a special day for Kamilias, as it’s not only Seungyeon’s 24th birthday, but also the 3rd debut anniversary of members Hara and Jiyoung, who were late additions to the group.

Through her Twitter, Hara shared moments from their small party with two photo updates. She wrote, “Seungyeon unni’s happy birthday & Hara, Jiyoung’s third year anniversary.”

Dressed in matching red and white outfits, the girls pose playfully for their Polaroid picture.

SNSD TVXQ SHINee KARA and more to perform at ''2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney''

Dubbed as “THE biggest event in Australian Asian Pop history”, the 2011 K-Pop Music Fest in Sydney which is scheduled for the 12th of November is set to bring in 10 of the top Idol groups from South Korea. Groups such as KARA, Secret, 2AM, SHINee, Miss A, 4Minute, TVXQ, CNBlue, B2ST and Girls’ Generation are slated to perform at the first ever all-star K-Pop concert which will be held at the Sydney ANZ Stadium. 

JK Entertainment has organised this event in view of the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Ties Between Korea and Australia. The company has confirmed with SBS PopAsia that these groups will be brought into Sydney for the concert. Also, the K-Pop Music Fest will be broadcasted by Korean TV Channel, MBC. Although the concert has been confirmed, the exact date as to when tickets go on sale is yet to be announced.

SNSD, KARA, and TVXQ in top 10 searches on Yahoo! Japan for first half of 2011

Yahoo! Japan has released a list of the top searches made in the first half of the year on the popular Japanese search engine.

The list has three different categories including overall ranking, people ranking, and television program ranking. While no Korean groups managed to make it on the overall ranking, which was dominated by websites like YouTube and Mixi, SNSD, KARA, and TVXQ made it onto the top people ranking.

Japanese girl group AKB48 took first place, while boy band Arashi took second and AKB48 member Maeda Atsuko took third.

SNSD came behind them in fourth, followed by KARA in fifth. SNSD's first Japanese album was just certified double-platinumand they were chosen, along with TVXQ, to promote Korean Wave products at 7-Elevens in Japan. KARA released their fourth Japanese single "Go Go Summer!" on June 29th and has already sold over 100,000 copies.

TVXQ followed in tenth place, following three AKB48 members and boy band EXILE. As mentioned before, TVXQ will be promoting Korean Wave products at Japanese 7-Elevens along with SNSD. TVXQ has also become the first Korean group to grace the cover of Japanese Rolling Stone magazine. The fact that Korean groups managed to obtain three of the top ten spots for most searched keywords demonstrates the ever-increasing influence of Korean music in Japan.

Kara’s new Japanese album Go Go Summer has been sold over 100,000 copies

Kara’s Japanese fourth single album Go Go Summer was sold over 114,000 copies just in a week since its release, ranking second on the Oricon weekly chart.
Following Kara’s third single album Jet Coaster Love, which had been sold over 123,000 copies in a week when it was released in April, Go Go Summer has also recorded more than 100,000 copies in sales. The sales record, two times in a row, is first set in the 44-year history of the Oricon chart for foreign female artists.
When the foreign male artists, whether bands or solo singers, were all included, the Kara’s record places second, only following TVXQ’s.
In addition, Kara has made another surprising record: all their songs released in Japan (“Mister,” “Jumping,” “Jet Coaster Love,” and “Go Go Sumer”) has been put among top five on the Oricon chart.

KARA’s Nicole partners up with “Mango Six” for her new bakery line, “KUKI SIX”

KARA’s Nicole recently linked hands with dessert cafe, “Mango Six”, to collaborate for an enterprise with the cafe’s new product line, “KUKI SIX”.

Nicole’s “KUKI SIX” boasts a new line-up of six bakery goods, including the ‘Choco Cookie’, ‘Chocolate Chip Cookie’, ‘Coconut Cookie’, ‘Earl Grey White Choco Muffin’, ‘Orange Cream Cheese Muffin’, and the ‘Choco Brownie’.

It was reported that Nicole was directly involved with the planning and development of the recipes, as well as marketing and promotional methods for her upcoming bakery line.

As such, Nicole became the first celebrity to engage in the food service industry by providing input into a particular recipe.

Director Kang Hoon of Mango Six stated, “Using books and the internet, Nicole researched at least 100 cookie recipes. Through this, Nicole was able to carefully select a menu that suited well with Mango Six’s concept and unique taste.” It was revealed that Director Kang is actually a close friend of Nicole’s, and personally made the business proposition to the idol.

Director Kang added, “Nicole has always been interested in cookies and bakeries in general, and had always either shared baked goods with her friends or uploaded pictures onto her Twitter. At first I thought she was just at a hobbyest level, but her knowledge in cookies is actually quite profound and many find her food to be delicious, which is why I thought she had some potential in the bakery business.”

Nicole unveiled her own thoughts about creating a bakery line under her name, “I always used to make cookies just in my leisure time, but people around me always said how delicious they were and asked me to make more for them. I used to make various bakery goods during days I didn’t have a schedule, and this has now turned into an opportunity for me to continue developing my baking skills.”

Nicole will be participating in her first promotional event for her new line on July 5th, where she will be directly involved in hand-making these cookies at the Mango Six cafe in Apgujeong for customer sampling.

“KUKI SIX” is set for nationwide sale come July 5th, followed by overseas advancements into various Asian countries next year including Japan and China.

KARA’s Goo Hara models for Swarovski crystals

KARA’s Goo Hara is juggling a plethora of careers as a singer, actress, and now a big-time model! Hara was picked up by world-reknown brand Swarovski to endorse their crystal jewelry.

Hara was asked to model the brand’s signature Swan jewelry, which the idol was more than happy to do since she wears the Swan pendant on a daily basis. She was also delighted to find out that the Swan earrings would be released in Korea first out of all the world branches.

Goo Hara expressed, “”I’m so nervous and happy to be the model that represents the brand.”

During this photoshoot, Hara showed off her lady-like beauty, which sparkled all the more with the help of the products. The staff were impressed by the fact that Hara did not complain or fall asleep during the shoot, even though she was running on only two hours of sleep recently because of her busy schedule.

KARA's Gyuri shares selcas from her middle school and high school days

KARA's goddess-like leader, Gyuri, has updated her Twitter with pictures that have instilled delight in fans from far and wide. Unearthed from her very own hard drive, the photos she posted were previously never-before-seen in the public eye.

Along with the pictures, Gyuri tweeted about how she no longer needs to take as many pictures of herself since she is photographed so much throughout her idol career. She then refers to an age-old story of a box that holds unexpected contents, saying, “Surely, my hard drive is like a Pandora’s box.”

She goes on to ponder the time frame the photos were taken in, pinpointing the upper two photos to likely be from her first grade and seventh grade years. Gyuri then revealed the bottom two pictures, said to be from her middle school and high school eras.

KARA’s Jiyoung recently hung out with her members and revealed her svelte body.

On June 22nd, the idol tweeted, “Today we ate out and shopped together for a very long time. We are having fun because our schedule ended early.”

On May 31st, KARA’s Nicole shared some gorgeous photos of herself with her groupmates from the backstage of the “2011 Dream Concert“.

KARA tweets about their first Korean stage since contract dispute

Girl group KARA performed their first Korean stage since the contract dispute with their agency.
On May 28th at the Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium in Seoul, all five members of KARA stood together on stage at the “2011 Dream Concert“.
After their performance, members revealed their feelings about their first Korean comeback stage through their personal Twitter accounts.

First, Gyuri tweeted, “So touched… Thank you so much to all my people who cheered us on. I will continue to put in effort to become a great singer.”
Also, Nicole wrote, “I got to stand on stage for the first time in almost 6 months, I felt the meaning of performing, and I was touched by the many people who came.” She added, “I am so happy that we get to sing and perform in front of a large audience again, and thank you so much for trusting and loving us… We will try even harder. I love you. Kamilia.”
