Korean ballad group 2AM yesterday disclosed a remake version of Japan’s
past hit song, informed their agency Bit Hit Entertainment on
Wednesday.
A press release by Big Hit explained that the ballad
group 2AM’s latest song “Greatest Love,” originally sung by famed
Japanese singer-songwriter and actor Masaharu Fukuyama, was released on
local online music websites on Tuesday.
The song, whose original title is "最愛," was the theme song for Japanese film “Suspect X” released in 2008.
“I
think it’s better than the original version. The way the group
re-interpreted the piece is in such a dramatic way,” Fukuyama was quoted
as saying on the statement upon hearing "Greatest Love."
This
is also part of Fukuyama’s own project in producing a comprehensive
remake album “THE BEST BANG!! -ASIA LIMITED BANG!!” that will contain
all his hit songs of the past 20 years.
Several other Korean
artists have participated in the album including songstress Lim
Jeong-hee, and Joohee of group 8eight from Big Hit Entertainment, boy
band BEAST and songstress G.NA from Cube Entertainment, ballad singer
Tei from Fluxus Music, Youngjee of group Bubble Sisters from Universal
Korea and Ban Kwang-ok who was one of the contestants to music cable
channel Mnet's music reality competition SuperstarK
Fukuyama’s
best album will be released simultaneously in six nations throughout
Asia on April 6 while the songs each artist recorded are set to go on
sale in order starting with BEAST's track translated into "Rainbow"
which was released on Monday.
2AM, composed of members Jo Kwon,
Jinwoon, Seulong and Changmin, debuted in 2008 with single “This Song"
which topped Korea's music charts immediately following its release on
November 12.
They are known for their hit ballads including
"Can't Let You Go Even If I Die" and "I Did Wrong" as well as having
branched out into various facets of the entertainment industry such as
hosting radio shows and appearing on variety programs.
The group has recently wrapped up their first nationwide tour “Saint o’clock - The Last Time” last Sunday.
