According to CNN GO, Jay Park beat out Big Bang's Taeyang for "best international debut of a K-pop artist" when the former 2PM member released his 1st mini-album, "Take A Deeper Look." The mini-album peaked at #1 in Canada and Denmark, and #2 in the U.S. and Australia iTunes R&B/Soul album charts. "Take A Deeper Look" also topped iTunes charts in Italy, France, and Norway.
Jay Park told CNN GO, "I didn’t expect this at all. It’s been surreal to find out that I have all these fans in countries I have never been to before."
"It’s the music that I wanted to do."
CNN GO then continues to explore the reasons why Jay Park is so popular among fans. One fan, 22-year-old Jenny Lee said, "He doesn’t have that ‘entertainer disease’ of talking himself up. And I like the fact that he’s not two-faced. He’s unaffected."
"Unlike other K-Pop idols, who reliably deliver manufactured and rehearsed responses, Park is famous for blurting out anything that comes to mind." -- CNN GO
Jay Park then reveals his activities in Korea when he is not busy recording new songs, performing, or doing his job as an idol in general. He enjoys going to eat at the barbecue restaurant Donsadon, Taco Bell, and his favorite coffee shop, Café Bene.
Humorously, he also reveals that he does not cook and uses the microwave, or orders Papa John's pizza when he doesn't go out. In addition, Jay Park doesn't watch movies or shop because he "wear(s) what my fans send me" and sings karaoke, to which he said "I sing for a living."
Ending the interview, Jay Park reveals that he closely follows both Korean and the U.S. music industry and is planning to work in the U.S. next year. Currently, Jay Park is meeting with different producers, with one possible collaboration with Black Eyed Peas will.i.am, who was in Seoul last week. It seems that will.i.am not only met with 2NE1, but Jay Park as well.
When CNN GO asked Jay Park who he would like to work with in the future, he lists Usher, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and more and adds, "Whoever’s down to work with me."
