SNSD takes #1 on Oricon's album Weekly Chart with 1st Japanese album

SNSD's 1st Japanese album "Girls' Generation" has become the best internationally sold album by a foreign group according to Oricon Charts. SNSD released their Japanese album on June 1st and sold approximately 230,000 units in their first week, taking first place on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts after ranking first in the Daily Chart several times last week.

The last foreign artist to top the Oricon charts with the most albums was sold was Russian female duo TaTu; this was approximately 8 years and 3 months ago.

At 7AM on the Oricon News website, they wrote, "SNSD is the first ever female foreign group to grab No.1 in their first week of sales with 230,000~ units sold."

SNSD began their Arena Japan Tour on May 31st in Osaka. On June 25th, they will attend the "MTV Video Music Aid Japan" with labelmate SHINee at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
