Sidus HQ said that Song Jong Ki has been casted to star in a new historical drama that is set to air in September.
The upcoming historical drama is entitled "A Tree With Deep Roots," starring actors Han Suk Kyu, Jang Hyuk, and actress Shin Se Kyung.
According to Sidus HQ, Song Joong Ki will play the early years of King Se Jong, who is a young prince and is fond of reading books. The production team stated, "Song Joong Ki is perfect for expressing King Sejong in his youth. We had a feeling that he will do a remarkable job as soon as we got the script and given his concentration and portrayal, he would create a wonderful character from there."
Song Joong Ki rose to stardom in 2010 after playing the role of "Goo Yong Ha" in the popular KBS historical series "SungKyunKwan Scandal" together with Park Yoochun, Yoo Ah In, and Park Min Young.
"A Tree With Deep Roots" will have Jang Tae Yoo as the drama producer, joined by scenarist Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Hyun. The drama is set to air on September 28.
