Just before their Japanese concert on the 14th in Yokohama, the group received a certificate of appointment as an activist from the UN Friends’ side. This is the first time that the UN Friends appointed an official activist.
UN Friends is part of the United Nations and works as a representative of that same organization. They make efforts in peace promotion and help with the restoration of areas damaged by natural disasters. UN Friends will be holding events in the future, from which the profits will be donated to the victims of the recent earthquake in east Japan.
The 6 members of the idol group have visited the affected areas, including 6 city shelters in Rikuzentakata, where they gave out soup and Korean food. They are also planning to donate a part of their profits from the new tour to aid the victims of the disaster. The group became the first appointed activists through their hard work.
Leader Yoonhak talked about being appointed as an activist saying, "If there is a place that needs us, no matter where it is, we will go," and "We are happy that our small strength can be helpful".
Along with their recent activities with UN Friends, Supernova has also been releasing new material in Japan. Their latest single "Kimi ni Aitakute," reached the second spot on the Oricon charts on the Daily charts as well as the weekly charts. With this feat, Supernova can proudly say that all of their Japanese singles have ranked in the top 6 positions of the chart. The group sent a thankful message to their fans by saying, "Having a release after such a long time we got number 2 on Oricon Chart, it is something we have achieved through the national and international support".
Apart from that, Supernova has also managed to sell out all tickets for their recent tour. They performed in Yokohama Pacifico Hall on the 13th and 14th of June, on the 17 in Kobe Green Arena Hall and on the 19th in Nagoya International Hall.
