BoA and SNSD to perform at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan

On August 13th and 14th, the 2011 Summer Sonic Festival is scheduled to be held in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. This Japanese festival features a long list of overseas artists every year. This year, the line-up includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, X Japan, Avril Lavigne, YUI, and Simple Plan, just to name a few. Recently, the festival announced that they have also added BoA and SNSD to the performers’ list!

BoA has had much success in Japan since her debut in the country back in 2002. While she had focused on the Japanese market since her initial success there, she turned her attention to activities in Korea after missing from the Korean music scene for 5 years with her 6th Korean album "Hurricane Venus."

She has also been busy filming “COBU 3D” alongside Derek Hough from "Dancing With The Stars" in Toronto, Canada, which is scheduled to be released in 2012.

On the other hand, SNSD has been focusing on the Japanese market recently, as they have proven to be successful by grabbing the number 1 spot on Japan’s Oricon chart for the first half of 2011 as the best selling overseas group. SNSD's 1st Japanese album can still be seen in the top 10 places on both daily and weekly charts of the Oricon Charts.

Both BoA and SNSD are expected to perform in Tokyo. BoA will be performing on the Mountain Stage on August 13th, while SNSD will be performing as a special guest on August 14th.
