July 9th episode of "Immortal Song 2" featured duets of previously hidden talents

KBS's "Immortal Song 2," which aims to "rediscover idols," received good comments for its duet stage episode.

On July 9th, the idol singers paired up with their seniors and took to the stage to perform duets. Sistar's Hyorin partnered with 4Men's Shin Yongjae, MBLAQ's G.O partnered Lim Jeonghee, F.T. Island's Lee Hongki partnered Super Junior's Kim Heechul, 2PM's Junsu also chose to team up with Lee Younghyun, 4minute's Jeon Jiyoon partnered with Glass Box's Lee Sejun, and 2AM's Changmin partnered with 8eight's Lee Hyun, with whom he had previously collaborated with as project group Homme.

On this day, Lee Hongki and Kim Heechul tackled the song "Early Morning Discount" oringinally sung by Lee Munse and Lee Juck. They completed the song to applause from the audience, successfully pulling off the harmony that had given them a lot of trouble during their practices. As the winners of the first round, they were also called out first, whereupon they caught attention by showing a joyful image onstage.

G.O. and Lim Jeonghee followed up with "Deeper Than Love." They complemented their cool harmony by their constant eye contact. Together, their emotional rendition got them huge applause from the audience. G.O. revealed his thoughts, saying, "I'm thankful for even being able to perform with Lim Jeonghee, and I have learned a lot from her."

The third pair was Hyorin and Shin Yongjae, who sang Seoul Family's "Now." Their respective vocal talents got them a lot of attention right from the start. They did not disappoint with their dreamy duet, which was accompanied by an acoustic guitar.

Junsu and Lee Younghyun were the fourth pair with "Just The Way We Love," followed by Changmin and Lee Hyun with "Lying Down At The Sea."

Jeon Jiyoon and Lee Sejun, who came in last in the first round, unfortunately took six placing with Lee Munse's "Farewell." Jiyoon's cool composure and confident opinions despite placing last immediately after joining the show, however, made headlines. She said, "I think I did well. I know that I did my best." She asked that the audience look forward to her future performances.

Viewers have been posting their own evaluations of the singing abilities of the idols online after the weekly broadcasts. The idols have been surprising viewers with their previously hidden talents, which has been garnering constant attention for "Immortal Song 2."

Meanwhile, the next episode is set to air on July 16th, where the theme is a reinterpretation of legend Ju Hyunmi's songs.
