The broadcast had only shown the performances by various artists such as Monkey Majik, Kana Nishino, and Namie Amuro. It centered around giving aid and hope to the victims of the recent Tohouku earthquake. On July 2nd, the much anticipated results of the awards show will finally be released, and will be broadcast across countries in Asia such as Singapore, Malaysia, and China from 6:30PM to 8:00PM JST (Japan Standard Time).
Girls’ Generation has been nominated in three out of the 15 categories for their hit Japanese single, "Genie," and the winners of the various categories will be announced during the broadcast. Other nominees include singers such as Justin Bieber, Utada Hikaru, Linkin Park, Avril Lavinge, Kato Miriya, and Ikimonogakari.
In addition to the awards announcement, a previously recorded segment of "Making of the MTV Video Music Aid Japan" will also be revealed on MTV Asia on July 23rd. It will feature backstage scenes of the performers and crew interacting, and it will also show clips of the MTV staff commenting on the VMAJ Awards and providing their insight. This broadcast will give viewers a peek into the entire awards show, as well as an breakdown of the production just days before the show. The program will last for half an hour, and will be broadcast from 6:30PM to 7:00PM JST.
