With all these Kpop groups going to Japan, and releasing their music over there, it's no surprise that there's some Kpop in the Oricon charts every single week. The protesters included this in their statements saying that Fuji TV shouldn't force Hallyu on them. They also exclaimed, "We don’t want to watch Korean dramas!"
The protest was initiated after actor Takaoka Sosuke was fired from his agency after criticizing the Korean wave in Japan. The first action that was taken was a gathering of 2500 people on August 7th where they raised their voices and said the same thing as yesterday, "Stop the Hallyu". On the first day, the gathering was categorized as a walk, seeing as the protest wasn't authorized. Later, the organizers registered for a permit from the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission for another protest, emphasizing the validity and encouraging everyone to join.
The event drew a lot more people than expected, as viewers of the online stream remarked on twitter. "I honestly didn’t think it would become this big."
When they finally got to Fuji TV's studios, the group tried to talk to passer-byers, saying "We are against biased reports." Then they went on with their march for another hour without interruptions. "We thought it would be a success if we got 1000 people," said a representative of the march. "This is not an anti-Korea protest or about hate towards the country. This is a protest against Fuji TV's biased reports and how they’re pushing Hallyu on us."
The group sent a written statement to the broadcasting company before their march, but the network rejected the documents. "There are no reasons for a protest."
The group currently has no plans for a next protest and the committee will officially go its separate ways. With this last thing, they hope that Fuji TV will finally change.
