Daesung will not be prosecuted for motorcyclist's death

At the end of May, Big Bang's Daesung was involved in a car accident that caused the death of a motorcyclist named Hyun. Due to the fatal accident, Daesung had halted all activities until at least the end of the year, leaving the remaining members of Big Bang to pursue solo activities as they did not want to return as Big Bang unless they were all together.

Another investigation began after the initial investigation, summoning Daesung again. After months of inquiry, Big Bang's Daesung was found not guilty by a jury for Hyun's death.

Prosecutor Lee Seunghyun told 10Asia, "All nine members of a grand jury agreed on no prosecution at a hearing on August 25. There is not enough evidence to show that the motorcyclist was alive before getting hit by Daesung and we cannot rule out the possibility he died from hitting his head on a streetlamp beforehand."

"Also we recognize that Daesung did not drive at a safe distance and he was negligent in his responsibility to look ahead of him but it is difficult to acknowledge the link between the two... We decided on not guilty according to the legal maxim 'when in doubt, in favor of the accused,'" he continued.

Daesung has already reached a settlement with Hyun's family in July.

Despite the no conviction rule, YG Entertainment has confirmed that Daesung has no plans to continue activities for the remainder of the year. Daesung has been focusing on his religious outings, and has already been spotted at a church retreat at the beginning of the month.
